Club B

A Spiffy Speakeasy

Club B is one of Cincinnati Ballet's signature events and largest fundraiser of the season. Each year there is a different theme. For the 2019-2020 season it was a roaring 20's speakeasy. We wanted the invitation (below left) to reflect the beautifully elegant and simplistic Art Deco style of the 1920's but the web graphics have a more fun speak easy dance party vibe.

The graphic to the left was used as a Facebook event header. Other similar images were resized and used as email headers, website graphics, social media posts, digital ads, and more.

The invitation is similar. When it is printed we used gold foiling in-place of the gold metallic gradient you see on the graphic.

Original sketch

This is the original sketch I drew to give me a base to start with for developing the dancing 20's style legs. I love starting an idea like this on paper with a good old number 2 pencil. Something about the process that really gets my creative juices flowing. Once I have a basic sketch I scan onto my computer and vectorize the illustration in Illustrator.

Graphic elements I designed to be used in printing all the collateral for the Event

COVID protocols prevented us from holding this as an in-person event. We worked with Taft's Brewing Co. on developing a safe alternative to the in-person event. Taft's put together food and beverage boxes that patrons could pick up the night of the event, contact free. Then they could log into the event from their home computers.

Altered Cincinnati Ballet Logo to reflect the Art Deco theme of the party.

An Art Deco pattern that I was going to use on programs, seating and name cards, menus, signs, and other print collateral.
